Job summary

John Deere seeks a Staff Software Engineer in Chicago to lead architecture for multisystem digital products. You will guide design reviews, define patterns, and mentor engineers while driving secure, observable, scalable services across React/Redux front ends and Java/Python microservices.

You’ll work with product teams to shape roadmaps, uphold security by design, and champion platform standardization with reusable components across Global IT.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• 6+ years building frontend apps with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React and Redux.
• 4+ years operating cloud native systems in AWS or Azure with containers and orchestration.
• 4+ years building serverless apps with AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
• 5+ years integrating databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, relational).
• Security by design practices and authentication/authorization frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation across multisystem solutions.
• Define system specifications and architectural requirements.
• Lead design reviews for high quality, secure software and data products.
• Provide full stack leadership across React/Redux, Java/Spring Boot, Python microservices.
• Establish observability standards and instrument services with logs, metrics, and dashboards.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in engineering and operations.
• Collaborate with product and UX to shape roadmaps.
