Job summary

John Deere, a leader in technology-enabled agricultural solutions, seeks a Staff Software Engineer in Chicago. You will drive architecture across multi-product platforms, mentor teams, and deliver secure, scalable software with strong observability and reliability practices.

You will work across React/Redux front ends, Java/Spring Boot back ends, and Python microservices, applying security-by-design principles and promoting engineering excellence in a collaborative Global IT environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing backend applications using Java/J2EE and Spring
• 6+ years building frontend apps with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React/Redux
• 4+ years operating cloud-native systems in AWS or Azure (containers: Docker; orchestration: Kubernetes/EKS)
• 4+ years building serverless apps with AWS Lambda and API Gateway
• 5+ years designing and integrating databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, relational)

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of multisystem solutions across digital products
• Define system specifications and architectural requirements from business needs
• Lead design reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, scalability, and security of software/data products
• Provide full stack leadership across React/Redux, Java/Spring Boot, Python microservices, and secure REST APIs
• Mentor engineers to apply secure-by-design practices and establish observability standards
