Job summary

Rippling is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Payroll Processing in New York. You will shape the core payroll platform responsible for payments, banking, accounting, and reporting, building scalable, reliable services used globally.

You will lead architecture, drive end-to-end delivery, and mentor engineers while collaborating with Product, Payments, Risk, and Accounting to deliver cohesive solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and driving org-wide impact.
• Experience building large-scale distributed backend systems with Python/Django.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture for the next generation of payroll processing services across countries.
• Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact features from design to production.
• Drive the technical roadmap, identify bottlenecks, and improve reliability and scalability.
• Tackle ambiguous problems with concrete plans and actionable steps.
• Mentor engineers and champion best practices in code quality, testing, and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Payments, Risk, and Accounting to deliver platform-wide solutions.
