Job summary

Stripe Radar software engineer role on the Radar team. Build products and infrastructure to detect fraud and abuse, spanning backend services, enterprise APIs, and user experiences.

You’ll own problems from investigation through launch and scale real-time decisions across Stripe's payments network. Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and ML engineers to bring new signals into production, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and user trust in fintech.

Qualifications

• 10+ years backend and/or full-stack development experience.
• Strong coding skills in any language with production software experience.
• Experience leading design and delivery of large, complex software projects end-to-end.
• Experience guiding engineers on substantial projects as a senior IC.
• Hands-on coding as a senior IC leader in the last year.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar codebases and make thoughtful technical trade-offs.
• Comfort operating in high-ambiguity environments with durable decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration across teams and systems.
• Understanding of basic data science concepts like linear models, precision, recall.
• Experience building consumer products at scale with high user trust.
• Experience working with fast-moving customers and leading upsell calls.
• Track record of collaborating with data science and ML teams; 0→1 product experience; fintech/payments exposure.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate reliable, low-latency services that detect and prevent fraud and abuse at scale.
• Design APIs and dashboard experiences that help businesses investigate threats and configure defenses.
• Develop the shared platform and infrastructure for Radar capabilities.
• Work directly with users to understand emerging threats and translate insights into products.
• Partner with ML engineers and data scientists to bring new signals into production.
• Own projects end to end from design through rollout, measurement, and iteration.
• Maintain a high bar for engineering quality, reliability, and product craft while moving quickly.
