Job summary

Waters Biosciences (formally BD Biosciences) is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our growing team. You will design, develop, and document software products for flow cytometry instruments and related medical devices.

You will mentor developers, drive architecture decisions, implement features across subsystems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality releases in a regulated environment. The role emphasizes hands-on coding and rigorous testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Math or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with OO design and OO programming.
• Extensive experience with C#/.NET development.
• 3+ years of web development with C#, TypeScript, Angular, HTML, ASP.NET, CSS3, SignalR, WebAPI, SQL Server, and microservices.
• Experience designing and implementing complex software applications.
• Strong, results-focused work ethic and communication skills.
• Experience in regulated FDA environments is a plus.
• Agile/Scrum experience is preferred.
• Experience with software for flow cytometers or medical devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and document software products.
• Build unit tests and API tests to automate software testing.
• Research, estimate, prototype, and implement solutions addressing product and technical challenges.
• Deliver frequent, high-quality releases for flow cytometry instruments with cross-functional teams.
• Establish milestones, drive estimation, and set priorities with project management.
• Develop features across subsystems including device communication, business logic, and UI.
• Collaborate on requirements and software specifications.
• Mentor other developers to produce robust software.
• Monitor progress and report to leadership on schedule commitments.
• Conduct code inspections and technical reviews.
