Job summary

Mount Thor, Inc. is seeking a software engineer to build the systems that manage our compute fleet at scale. You will own the fleet control plane, drive the roadmap, and work across hardware, OS, networking, and data center operations to maximize reliable capacity.

You will develop node-level software, automation for capacity provisioning, and interfaces for software agents to operate safely at scale. The role emphasizes reliability, observability, and recoverable design across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Experience building production systems used by multiple teams.
• Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or Rust.
• Experience with distributed systems and control planes.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/macOS/Unix environments and system performance.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and large server fleets.
• Experience leading complex infra work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for fleet control plane and machine lifecycle.
• Build distributed control plane and node software to manage inventory, health, and lifecycle state.
• Automate capacity ingestion across hardware generations, including provisioning and diagnostics.
• Connect fleet health to workload scheduling to improve availability and utilization.
• Develop interfaces for software agents to inspect state, take safe actions, and verify results.
• Establish operational practices, health signals, and on-call processes.
