Job summary

Fastly’s Control Systems team translates customer intent into the configuration data powering our edge. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll join a skilled group solving complex problems in high-availability systems and collaborate across the organization to shape, scale, and secure the core Fastly experience that customers rely on daily.

You’ll lead large Perl deployments, evolve Go microservices, mentor engineers, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building reliable distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go.
• Willingness to learn Perl for core infrastructure.
• Ability to lead complex multi-team projects.
• Effective communication in a remote, asynchronous environment.

Responsibilities

• Support, deploy, and maintain large scale Perl production systems.
• Evolve legacy systems into Go microservices.
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Collaborate across teams to meet feature requirements.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
