Fastly’s Control Systems team translates customer intent into configuration data powering Fastly’s edge. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll join engineers solving high-availability challenges and shaping core infrastructure across the organization.

You’ll drive architecture, mentor peers, and lead complex multi-team projects from design to deployment, including on-call responsibilities. A strong background in Go, Perl, and distributed systems is essential, as is comfort with remote

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building highly reliable distributed systems.
• Strong Go programming language knowledge.
• Willingness to learn Perl to support core infrastructure.
• Ability to lead cross-team projects and influence outcomes.
• Strong communication in a remote, asynchronous work environment.

Responsibilities

• Support, deploy, and manage large-scale Perl production systems.
• Evolve legacy systems into maintainable Go microservices.
