Locations and Work Model
Positions located in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York follow a hybrid work model to support collaboration.
Eligibility

Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of core services supporting cross-border payments, including transaction orchestration, reconciliation, and settlement components.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and Security teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory, fraud, and operational requirements.
- Influence technical direction and standards for scalable, event-driven payment systems operating across regions and partners.
- Build technical strategy for broad or complex requirements with forward-looking approaches that solve large, open-ended problems.
- Participate in the strategic development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects and programs.
- Drive technical architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation in support of product needs and overall technology strategy.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to build a technical plan and backlog of stories, and ensure execution from design to production delivery.
- Guide a broad functional area and lead efforts with the functional team and overall planning.
- Represent engineering in cross-functional sessions and present arguments to persuade others; adapt strategies to influence alignment or behavior change.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering groups to conceptua lize and build new features and product descriptions.
- Own features or systems and define their long-term health, while improving surrounding systems.
- Assist support and operations teams in identifying and quickly resolving production issues.
- Develop and implement tests to ensure quality, performance, and scalability of the application.
- Seek opportunities to improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent education/experience.
- Eight or more years of relevant experience.
- Seven or more years of experience in distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, microservices.
- Hands-on Docker experience.
- Two or more years of front-end development experience with modern frameworks (Angular/React).
- Six or more years of experience with Java/Spring; proficiency with Maven/Gradle.
- Strong understanding of blockchain architectures, cross-border payments, and distributed ledger technologies, including smart contracts and tokenized systems.
- Experience delivering business-critical systems to market.
- Ability to influence and work in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience designing and developing scalable systems.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging frameworks (Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Working experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of mature engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, secure coding, etc.).
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methods, Agile/Scrum/LEAN, and DevOps practices.
- Background checks including a drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD.
- JavaScript and scripting frameworks experience (e.g., Angular, React).
- Monitoring and alerting systems experience (e.g., AppDynamics).
- Proficiency in additional languages (C#, Ruby, Python, PHP).
- Knowledge of ACH/EFT and real-time payment networks (RTP, FedNow).
- FinTech experience and Kubernetes experience.
- AWS and/or Azure certifications are strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Office environment; mainly sedentary with extensive computer use. May require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity and dexterity to work with documents and office equipment. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay scale varies by location and is provided as a range: Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL: $124,000–$165,000 per year; San Francisco, CA: $149,000–$198,000 per year. Eligible for discretionary incentive plans and benefits. This scale is subject to change and not a guaranteed offer.
