Ladders is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience to define the technical direction and architecture for developer tooling across multiple teams. This remote US‑based role focuses on removing friction in developer workflows and improving adoption of internal tools, while influencing architecture and driving platform initiatives.

The role requires 8+ years of software engineering, strong leadership, and hands‑on experience with modern languages and AI‑assisted development tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in at least one general‑purpose language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Go, TypeScript).
• Strong experience with build systems and dependency management at scale (Gradle, Maven, npm).
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience designing developer‑facing products with usability and adoption focus.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools and practices.
• Strong communication skills for writing technical docs and influencing teams.

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Developer Experience to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This role will shape the technical foundation that helps product teams build, test, and deliver services more efficiently. You will partner closely with Product and engineering stakeholders to remove friction from the developer workflow and improve adoption of internal tooling and practices. In this hands‑on role, you will influence architecture across multiple teams while helping create a more cohesive and scalable engineering environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $193,000 – $309,000 annually
