Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data – Experimentation, to lead scientific direction for Curie and partner with engineering and product teams to advance statistical, causal inference, ML, and AI capabilities powering decision-making across the marketplace.

You will define contracts for experiment analysis, review production SQL for correctness, and productionize advanced methods like CUPED and sequential testing while ensuring reliability in a high-scale three-sided market.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry experience or equivalent applied research experience with measurable business impact.
• Deep expertise in experimentation and causal inference, with production experience in variance reduction, ratio metrics, sequential testing, and related methods.
• Strong coding and data skills, including production data pipelines and reviewing complex analytical SQL for statistical correctness.
• Experience translating statistical or ML methods into reliable, scalable platform capabilities in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Track record of setting technical direction, influencing cross-functional teams, and mentoring senior contributors.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to scientific, engineering, product, and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Set the scientific direction for Curie and shape the Decision Systems roadmap with engineering and product partners.
• Own the statistical contract for experiment analysis and define metrics, populations, covariates, and edge cases.
• Review analytical SQL and ensure statistical parity across engine migrations.
• Develop and productionize advanced methods such as CUPED, ratio-metric inference, sequential testing, and difference-in-differences.
• Build robust measurement techniques for high-scale, noisy three-sided marketplace data.
• Advance AI-assisted analysis workflows with trustworthy automated experiment readouts and risk detection.
• Mentor data scientists, product teams, and engineers on experimental design and interpretation of results.
