Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Data to join the team of a leader in the Hospitality & Recreation space.

This role will shape the architecture and operation of a real-time analytics platform that powers high-volume, low-latency data services. You will partner closely with Data Engineering teams to connect batch and streaming workloads while setting technical direction for scalable distributed systems. The position offers the opportunity to influence platform standards, improve production reliability, and help drive AI/ML-enabled workflow automation within the organization.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $198,200 - $297,400 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed data systems for real-time analytics
• Lead the architecture and evolution of the real-time analytics platform
• Own critical platform capabilities from architecture through production operations
• Build and optimize distributed data services for high-throughput, low-latency workloads
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to integrate batch and streaming workloads
• Establish technical standards and best practices for distributed systems
• Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience in designing and building large-scale distributed systems
• Strong proficiency in Python; Scala experience is a plus
• Hands-on expertise with Apache Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, or similar technologies
• Production experience with ClickHouse, Apache Druid, or equivalent analytics databases
• Experience with AWS MSK, Apache Kafka, or similar messaging platforms
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for automating workflows and enhancing productivity
