Ladders is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape the data platform at scale, driving analytics and operational decision-making for a consumer technology leader.

The role partners with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable data systems, mentors teams, and champions AI-assisted best practices while improving performance, reliability, and development workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building data or backend systems with cross-team leadership.
• Expertise in AI-assisted software development.
• Proficiency in Python for data pipelines and maintainable production software.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud data warehousing, such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Experience with containers, orchestration tools, preferably Airflow, and IaC tools like Terraform.
• Familiarity with K8s, Kafka, and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

Responsibilities

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This role will shape the technical direction of the data platform while helping deliver scalable solutions that support analytics and operational decision-making. You will partner closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable data systems, and you will influence best practices across engineering through mentoring, documentation, and code review. The position also calls for a strong focus on performance, reliability, and modern development workflows, including AI-assisted practices.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $185,000 annually
