Trend Micro's TrendAI team in Austin seeks a Staff Software Engineer to evolve the Control Plane of the TPS. You will extend the CLI, REST API, and a React UI, owning features end-to-end on an on-premises security appliance.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure software in a challenging, security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production systems in C++ on Linux (C++17+).
• Strong knowledge of POSIX, threads, I/O, IPC.
• Experience designing REST APIs with versioning and auth.
• Familiar with RPC protocols (gRPC/SOAP) and schema evolution.
• Proficiency with build tooling and static analysis.
• Experience with test automation, CI/CD, and debugging large codebases.
• BS in CS/CE or related field; advanced degree optional.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable services across the Control Plane in modern C++ on Linux.
• Extend configuration management and policy compilation for the data plane.
• Develop REST API surfaces and the on-device web UI; evolve programmatic API surface.
• Own inter-process communication between Control Plane and data plane; ensure backward compatibility.
• Lead design discussions, review code, and mentor engineers on the team.
• Create automated tests (C++ unit, Python system tests) and maintain testing standards.
