This is a remote-based position in the US.

We, the Cloud Platform Engineering team at Calix, are responsible for the Platforms, Tools, and CI/CD pipelines. Our mission is to enable Calix engineers to accelerate the delivery of world-class products while ensuring high availability.

We are seeking a skilled GCP Cloud Platform Engineer to manage, optimize, and maintain our Looker instance on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves supporting BI initiatives and enabling data-driven decisions, working closely with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure and data pipelines using GCP services like DataStream, Dataflow, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and Dataproc, with a strong background in DevOps, automation, and big data technologies.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement cloud infrastructure using IaC tools like Terraform.
  2. Automate provisioning of GCP resources such as Dataproc clusters and Dataflow jobs.
  3. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines and infrastructure deployment.
  4. Integrate tools like GitLab CI/CD or Cloud Build for automation.
  5. Deploy and manage real-time and batch data pipelines using Dataflow, DataStream, and Apache Flink.
  6. Ensure integration of data pipelines with GCP services like BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
  7. Implement monitoring and alerting with Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Prometheus.
  8. Monitor performance, reliability, and costs of data solutions.
  9. Optimize infrastructure for scalability and cost-efficiency.
  10. Implement security best practices including IAM, encryption, and network security.
  11. Ensure observability and visibility of platform health and utilization.
  12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing documentation and training.
Qualifications
  1. 7+ years in DevOps, cloud engineering, or data engineering.
  2. 3+ years in similar roles.
  3. Proficiency with GCP services like Dataflow, DataStream, Dataproc, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
  4. Experience with Apache Spark and Flink.
  5. Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies like Kafka and Pub/Sub.
  6. Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
  7. Expertise in IaC tools like Terraform.
  8. Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Cloud Build.
  9. Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  10. Scripting skills (Bash, Python).
  11. Monitoring and logging expertise.
  12. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
