Location: Remote (Midwest candidates preferred)
Travel: 25–30% to regional client sites (financial services sector)

We’re seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to lead client/vendor container installation and ensure seamless data integration for banking clients. The initial focus will be on Microsoft Azure, expanding to GCP and AWS. This role involves migrating operational data to a cloud-based vendor data lake for secondary analytical use, emphasizing data security, access control, and minimal operational disruption.

This position requires careful handling of sensitive, regulated data in compliance with banking and cloud standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess source systems: SQL databases, flat files, CSVs, logs
  • Design and implement cloud-native migration architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Document governance models, access policies, security configurations, rollback, and validation procedures
  • Collaborate with client experts on governance and security plans
  • Enable secure, incremental data transfers following governance protocols
  • Apply encryption standards and IAM role-based access controls
  • Ensure container solutions align with client strategy; deploy using Kubernetes, AKS, or ECS
  • Utilize Azure tools like VNet, Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric for integration and orchestration
  • Configure logging, audit trails, and alerts for traceability
  • Provide post-migration training and support for ongoing compliance and operations

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in cloud engineering and secure data migrations
  • Knowledge of data governance, audit readiness, security policies
  • Experience with cloud IAM, encryption, VPC, access policies
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, ECS
  • Design fault-tolerant data workflows with minimal disruption
  • Understanding of banking or high-compliance industry regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Engineer
  • Experience with financial or regulated enterprise environments
  • Background in cloud governance, data cataloging, access review workflows
  • Experience creating security plans, compliance checklists, audit documents

Duration and Rate:

  • 3–6 months, with potential extension
  • $60-$100/hr, depending on experience and certifications
  • Likely full-time with potential for full-time employment or client site work
