Job summary

Atoms in San Francisco is hiring a Staff Software Engineer focused on Vehicle & Hardware Security. You will own security across in‑vehicle networks, ECU firmware, secure boot, and OTA updates, partnering with vehicle engineering teams to set direction and drive secure development.

You should bring 7+ years in security engineering, automotive protocols like CAN/CAN-FD and UDS, OTA security experience, and knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in security engineering, with automotive/embedded IoT experience.
• Hands-on with CAN/CAN-FD and UDS protocols.
• Experience securing OTA update systems and secure boot.
• Familiar with ISO/SAE 21434 and lifecycle integration.

Responsibilities

• Own vehicle security across in-vehicle networks and ECUs.
• Lead security reviews and set technical direction.
• Design secure boot, firmware signing, and rollback protections.
• Secure OTA pipeline with signing and tamper detection.
• Partner with hardware and manufacturing to mitigate supply chain risks.
• Lead incident response and security programs.
• Represent Security in design reviews and architecture.
