Job summary

A Place for Mom is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to guide the technical direction of our public web experiences. This hands-on role focuses on Next.js/React, performance, SEO, and AI-enabled features across our site used by millions of families.

You will architect rendering strategies, mentor engineers, collaborate with product/design/SEO, and drive delivery from code to production while balancing scale, reliability, and cost.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js on high-traffic sites.
• Deep Next.js expertise with SSR/SSG/CSR and SEO impact awareness.
• Strong backend knowledge: Node.js APIs, MongoDB, relational databases, GraphQL a plus.
• Experience with headless CMS, experimentation, analytics, and AI patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture of Next.js/React web platform and rendering strategies for each page type.
• Own mobile-first performance and Core Web Vitals improvements across users.
• Collaborate with SEO/marketing on technical SEO, indexing, and redirects.
• Build Node.js services and APIs with MongoDB and relational stores, with edge caching.
• Advance headless CMS (Sanity) content workflows for marketing teams.
• Develop experimentation and analytics foundations (feature flags, A/B tests, event taxonomy).
• Review code, mentor engineers, and ensure production quality from design to deployment.
• Resolve production issues end-to-end across browser, CDN, and service layers.
• Architect AI features end-to-end and guide responsible AI patterns with product teams.
• Partner with Product to size feasibility, risk, cost, and scalability of AI features.
