John Deere in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop data models and pipelines, build REST APIs, and lead design reviews for data and digital products. You will mentor teammates, collaborate with architects, and drive best practices across SDLC in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants bring 5+ years in data products and ETL, strong skills in Spark, Python, SQL, AWS, and architecture leadership.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience designing, developing and maintaining scalable ETL solutions.
• 5 years of leadership across full SDLC including architecture, reviews, mentoring, and delivery.
• 5 years establishing data pipelines from multiple sources and integrating them.
• 2 years creating analytics environments for multiple data products.
• 2 years identifying performance bottlenecks and refining best practices.
• 2 years providing data insights to architects for design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop data models and data pipelines; build REST APIs for downstream systems.
• Debug, fix issues, perform root-cause analysis and preventive maintenance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and backlog refinement.
• Apply security-by-design to data pipelines and APIs.
• Mentor new team members and onboard engineers.
• Analyze business needs and translate into software specifications.
• Lead design reviews to ensure high-quality data and digital products.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to meet business needs.
• Work with architecture to define coding and data-pipeline standards.
• Improve quality, cost, and efficiency of software applications.
• Lead adoption of best practices for development, testing and CI/CD.
• Follow agile design methodologies for development and documentation.
• Set up onboarding processes and guidelines for the team.
• Mentor engineers across multiple products.
