Job summary

Q2 is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, implement, and support software across Windows and Linux, interfacing with end users and external services.

You will work both independently and with teams to deliver production solutions, mentor peers, and uphold security and privacy standards while embracing agile practices in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field and strong software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL required.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, integrate, and test software across Windows and Linux components.
  • Deliver solutions in live production systems both independently and collaboratively.
  • Maintain and resolve issues for custom features in production with on-call readiness.
  • Ensure adherence to security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Mentor teammates and promote engineering best practices.

The Job At-A-Glance:

Q2 is seeking an ambitious and adaptable Staff Software Engineer experienced in the ins and outs of development in a team setting. As part of our Engineering Development group, you will be working individually and collaboratively to develop, implement, and support custom solutions through fast-paced, dynamic projects involving components at every level of Q2’s Fraud platform to extend its functionality to meet our clients’ unique needs. Our ideal candidate is someone with a self-motivated, tinkering spirit and who is comfortable diving into professional development life while rapidly learning to engineer solutions using a mix of open technologies and our own proprietary framework.

A Typical Day:
  • Design, implement, integrate, and test software solutions of moderate complexity comprised of Windows- and Linux-based front-end and back-end components that interact with end users and integrate with internal and external services
  • Work individually and collaboratively to deliver solutions in live production systems
  • Support, maintain, and resolve problems for custom features in live production systems, with occasional on-call availability
  • Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to
  • Assist and mentor teammates to provide technical leadership and evangelize best practices
Bring Your Passion, Do What You Love. Here’s What We’re Looking For:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET, Javascript/Typescript, and SQL
  • Experience working with Azure is preferred as the product this engineer is working on is hosted within Azure
  • Web development experience
  • Passion for applying good design principals while exercising pragmatism to keep deadlines
  • Experience in all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Experience engineering software in a service-oriented architecture
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience contributing in an Agile development environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Occasional availability for on-call/emergency support
  • Ability to work flexible hours when necessary for deadlines and off-hours installations

This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
