Job summary

ASCENDING is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer/Cloud SME to lead the transformation of a large monolith into a cloud-native, scalable architecture. You will drive multi-cloud (AWS/Azure) efforts and Kubernetes-based orchestration, while embedding security and reliability into the platform.

You will mentor juniors, partner with Engineering, Architecture, and Product teams, and define a target architecture using domain-driven design.

Qualifications

• Cloud platforms: AWS and Azure with 7+ years experience.
• 7+ years re-architecting monolithic apps to cloud-native.
• Kubernetes/K8S architecture with AKS/EKS hands-on.
• Terraform for IAC deployment and management.
• Security best practices for containers and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/SE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead rearchitecture from monolith to cloud-native microservices.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Architecture, Product using domain-driven design.
• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure availability.
• Drive DevOps practices across SDLC for CI/CD.
• Mentor junior team members.

KeyResponsibilities

Architecture&TransformationLeadership

ReliabilityEngineering&CloudOperations

• UtilizeKubernetes(K8S)forcontainerorchestrationandmanagement,ensuringextremescalability,reliability,andhighavailabilityofthesystem.
• Implementrobust,highlyresilient,andhighlyavailablecomponentsforthesystem.
• Developandimplementcomprehensivemonitoring,logging,andalertingmechanismstoensureoptimalsystemperformanceandavailability.
• DrivetheadoptionofDevOpsprinciplesandpracticesthroughoutthesoftwaredevelopmentlifecycle,ensuringseamlessintegrationandcontinuousdeploymentprocesses.

RequiredQualifications

• CloudPlatforms: 7+yearsofexperiencewithcloudcomputingplatforms.Strongmulti-cloudexpertiserequiredwith AWS and Azure.
• Cloud-NativeTransformation: 7+yearsofexperienceinrearchitectinglarge-scalemonolithicapplicationstocloud-nativearchitectures.
• ContainerOrchestration: StrongexpertiseinKubernetes(K8S)isrequired,includinghands-onexperiencewithbothAKS(AzureKubernetesService)andEKS(ElasticKubernetesService).
• Networking: Strongexperiencewith CloudNetworking ,withtheabilitytodesignandresolvecomplexcloudnetworkingarchitectureproblems.
• IaC: Expertknowledgeof Terraform forinfrastructure-as-codedeploymentandmanagement.
