ShiftKey is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to set the technical direction for our multi-cloud infrastructure and ensure availability, stability, and scale of our SaaS platform. You’ll own architectural decisions and drive observability, reliability, and cost optimization.

You’ll work with engineering leadership, mentor teams on best practices, and lead evaluations and migrations across cloud providers in a fully remote role based in the United States.

Formación

• 8+ years in DevOps, infrastructure, or systems administration with 3+ in a dedicated DevOps/SRE role.
• Production experience operating Kubernetes across multiple cloud providers.
• Experience with declarative infrastructure-as-code and modular design.
• Hands-on GitOps tooling, observability stacks, and scripting for automation.
• Track record of multi-phase roadmaps and major platform migrations.

The role

We’re a healthcare technology company with two products: a SaaS platform and a two-sided marketplace. Both operate under strict regulatory requirements. This role focuses on the SaaS product, the one our customers depend on to run their day. When it’s down, they feel it.
As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll set technical direction for the infrastructure and core systems behind that product and own the results: availability, stability, and the ability to scale. You’ll work closely with engineering leadership, architects, and operations, serve as the go-to expert across our multi-cloud environment, and raise the operational standard for the engineering organization. That means giving architectural guidance on enterprise infrastructure, evaluating new technologies before we adopt them, and defining the practices other teams follow.

Where you’ll work

This is a fully remote position based in the United States. You should be comfortable working asynchronously and partnering with teammates in different time zones.

What you’ll be doing

• Automate complex infrastructure changes using code-driven provisioning and scripting to keep our cloud environments scalable and resilient.

• Provide architectural guidance across more than one major public cloud provider, enforce architectural boundaries and approval gates, and lead technical evaluations and proofs-of-concept.

• Deploy, manage, and optimize production container orchestration clusters on managed cloud services, along with GitOps-style continuous delivery.

• Own observability across all system components: metrics, dashboards, and proactive alerting. Participate in our company-wide incident response and on-call rotation.

• Develop, document, and routinely test disaster recovery plans and business continuity procedures.

• Track cloud spend, set up anomaly detection, automate scaling, and propose architectural changes that reduce cost.

• Guide cross-functional teams through complex implementation challenges and mentor engineers on infrastructure best practices.

• Develop technical solutions and operational processes that make engineering teams more effective.

What you’ll need

• 8+ years across DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or systems administration, including at least 3 in a dedicated DevOps/SRE role.

• Production experience operating managed Kubernetes on at least two major cloud providers, with an architecture-level understanding of how those platforms differ.

• Demonstrated experience managing live production infrastructure through declarative infrastructure-as-code, including remote state management and reusable, modular design.

• Hands-on experience with GitOps delivery tooling, metrics and dashboarding stacks, and automation in a scripting language.

• A track record of defining technical roadmaps for multi-phase initiatives and executing major platform migrations or infrastructure rollouts.

• Experience on on-call rotations, leading incident resolution, and applying cloud cost optimization.
