Job summary

The Kleingers Group, a leading civil engineering firm, seeks a Staff Site Civil Engineer in Louisville, KY to lead study and design phases across civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects, mentoring interns.

You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and surveyors, apply CAD and other software, and ensure projects meet standards while communicating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 consecutive years of civil engineering experience.
  • Public speaking ability is desired.
  • Capable of delivering design projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead study and design phases for civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders and managerial staff on engineering requirements.
  • Use design software to render plans and communicate designs; develop improvements.
  • Prepare and present reports such as detention and due-diligence reports.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and surveyors to progress projects.
  • Ensure designs meet specifications and standards.
  • Mentor co-ops and interns.

Staff Site Civil Engineer

The Staff Civil Engineer will provide technical leadership to project teams who will be working on planning, evaluation, design and implementation of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will lead the study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental, construction and industrial fields. The Staff Civil Engineer would regularly have interaction with employees outside of their department, regularly have interaction with clients, occasionally interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.), and rarely participate in selling to clients. The staff civil engineer is expected to manage assigned co-ops/interns, while being an example of professional presence, representing the Company and the department in a positive light, and have intermediate level of software knowledge of at least two (2) engineering software packages. This role is notrequiredto haveaProfessional Engineeringlicense.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consultswithandprovidesguidanceto projectstakeholders andmanagerialstaffregardingengineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
  • Usesdesignsoftwareanddrawingtoolstoaccuratelyrenderandcommunicate designs;plansand designs other necessary improvement related to type of project assigned.
  • Setsdesign specificationsbycomputingappropriate engineering requirements (i.e.-water flow rates, traffic demand, earth work balance, etc.).
  • Plansprojectsbasedontheanalysisofrelevantmaterialssuchasdrawings,blueprints,aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
  • Drafts andpresents reports ontopics relatedto projects suchasdetention reportsandengineering due diligence reports.
  • Perform calculations for materials, equipment, andlabor needed to determine probable construction cost.
  • Collaborateswitharchitects,contractors,andotherengineerstoensureprojectsprogressproperly.
  • Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
  • Monitorsprojectprogressandensuresdesignspecificationsandstandardsaremet.
  • AbletoteachandexplaintoothersthemethodologiesusedbyTheCompany.
  • Intermediatelevelofunderstandingofdesigntoolsandcivilengineeringpractices.
  • Fundamentaldesignofprojectsforsites.Inclusiveofdetentiondesign.
  • Participateinappropriate meetings,associationmemberships,andeventsto establish,develop,and grow networking contacts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
