Job Description And Duties
The Procurement Office, in the Office of Administrative Services, provides procurement services that support headquarters and regional offices throughout DTSC. The Procurement Office is responsible for executing purchase orders for all materials, supplies, products and one-time services used by the DTSC and ensuring the department follows all applicable statutes, policies and procedures when procuring goods for the State. As a Staff Services Manager I you will have the opportunity to:
- Supervise the operation of the Procurement Office, which includes directing the development, review and approval of activities related to procuring non-IT and IT goods and services
- Set expectations, assign tasks, oversee the workload of staff, and organize and monitor staff resources
- Develop succession plans to effectively respond to workload fluctuations and mitigate the potential for resource issues
- Develop and provide training that is compliant with the terms and conditions of the Department of General Services Procurement Division to Procurement Office and Program staff on an ongoing basis
- Provide technical assistance and serve as a department liaison on procurement issues with internal Program staff and federal, state, and local agencies
- Advise and consult with Program Managers, Deputy Directors, and Contracting Services Branch management concerning sensitive, controversial, and significant procurement issues that impact the Department’s programs

- Ability to handle and adjust to multiple assignments, priorities, and critical deadlines
- Ability to recognize sensitive issues and use tact and discretion when discussing them
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others daily
- Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and effectively with staff at various levels
