Job summary

FINRA is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to join our security program in a hybrid Rockville, MD office. You will identify and prioritize security risks, architect controls, and monitor their operation to protect critical applications and data.

You will help define security policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with teams to uphold FINRA’s mission of investor protection and market integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least three (3) years of related experience.
• Experience in securing networks/systems architecture, secure software assurance, intrusion detection and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Apply established processes to identify, validate, and prioritize security risks.
• Architect and design security control systems to address requirements.
• Operate and monitor established security controls.
• Ensure controls are operating effectively; resolve discrepancies.
• Review and triage control output; recommend actions.
• Evaluate and recommend security technologies, techniques, and tools.
• Review information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, and standards.
• Lead or co-lead internal process improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior staff and provide feedback on processes.
