Job summary

Gradial, based in Seattle, seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Security to own product and platform security end-to-end as the first dedicated security hire. You will shape technical direction, build protective controls, and partner with engineering to scale secure agentic systems.

You will drive threat modeling, harden infrastructure, and lead incident response while collaborating with IT/compliance and enterprise security teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering with principal or staff level ownership.
• Deep product security experience across threat modeling, secure architecture, auth and multi-tenant systems.
• Hands-on cloud security, Kubernetes, IAM and infrastructure as code.
• Strong view on securing LLM/agent-based systems from first principles.
• Experience leading incident response for production services.
• Track record of shipping production code, security tooling or infrastructure.
• Good judgment for pragmatic security tradeoffs in fast-moving environments.
• Clear communication with engineers, leadership and customer security teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Gradial’s product and platform security strategy.
• Lead threat modeling for the agentic platform and design protections.
• Harden application and cloud infrastructure across IAM and CI/CD.
• Partner with engineering to bake secure-by-default patterns.
• Own security detection and incident response for the platform.
• Represent security in customer reviews and architecture discussions.
• Own SOC 2 related controls with IT and compliance lead.
• Help identify future security capabilities and hiring needs.
