Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a motivated and experienced Scientist II to join our Environmental Services team in the Lehigh Valley office. Conduct and support environmental permitting efforts and support PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects, preparing documentation and NEPA activities.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2–4 years of environmental consulting experience, with knowledge of Section 404 and Chapter 105 permitting, NEPA processes, wetlands delineations, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, or a related scientific field
• 2–4 years of relevant environmental consulting experience
• Experience supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects
• Knowledge of Section 404 and Chapter 105 permitting and PA environmental regulations
• Experience with NEPA documentation and environmental review processes
• Familiarity with wetlands delineations, natural resource investigations, and field data collection
• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites

What You'll Do:

• Conduct and support environmental permitting efforts


• Support PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects and associated environmental compliance requirements


• Prepare environmental documentation and support NEPA environmental clearance activities


• Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and natural resource investigations


• Perform field surveys and support threatened and endangered species investigations, including bat and bog turtle habitat assessments


• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory correspondences


• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project managers, and clients


• Support fieldwork, data collection, and environmental compliance monitoring activities


• Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, planners, and permitting specialists across Verdantas

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, or a related scientific field


• 2 to 4 years of relevant environmental consulting experience.


• Experience supporting environmental permitting and regulatory compliance projects.


• Knowledge of Section 404 permitting, Chapter 105 permitting, and environmental regulations applicable within Pennsylvania


• Experience with NEPA documentation and environmental review processes


• Familiarity with wetland delineations, natural resource investigations, and field data collection


• Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills


• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team


• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Salary Range:

The starting salary for this position is $63,000, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and licensing status.
