Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Staff Scientist to serve as an operational resource within the Hematopathology section of the Department of Pathology & Immunology.

The role supports diagnostic testing, coordinates bone marrow cases, reviews flow cytometry results, and troubleshoots complex workflows in collaboration with hematopathologists and lab staff. The ideal candidate has a strong background in laboratory medicine and hematology, with knowledge of diagnostic modalities used

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • Laboratory Operations (3 Years)
  • ASCP Certification preferred
  • Ph.D. is a preferred qualification where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Designs research protocols, including procedures for data collection, verification and management.
  • Performs complex statistical analysis of data and writes interpretative reports.
  • Documents research topics and prepares papers for publication or presentation to peers.
  • Troubleshoots equipment/test issues and suggests improvements in testing methods.
  • Conducts literature searches related to the project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
