Job summary

Guidehouse seeks a Staff Scientist to provide laboratory leadership and support for interdisciplinary research with NHLBI. This on-site role is based in Bethesda, MD, and involves bench-to-bedside collaboration across organisms including zebrafish, mice, and microbes.

The position requires a PhD with postdoctoral experience (or a Master's with significant experience) and a strong publication record, with expertise in cellular biology and advanced microscopy.

Qualifications

• PhD with at least two years of postdoctoral research in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
• Master's with at least five years of intensive, hands-on research in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field in lieu of PhD.
• Mastery of Zebrafish models with husbandry, crossing, and genotyping protocols.
• Strong publication record.
• Experience with other animal models.
• Expertise in cellular biology and microscopy imaging.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust.

• Gain an understanding on how cells sense, respond, and adapt to a variety of stress conditions, including nutrient deprivation, organelle damage, and pathogen infection.

What You Will Need

• PhD with at least TWO (2) years of postdoctoral research experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field OR
• Master's degree with at least FIVE (5) years of intensive, hands-on research experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field in lieu of PhD
• Must have a mastery of Zebrafish models with skills such as husbandry, genetic crossing, and genotyping protocols.
• Must have a have a strong publication record.
• Experience working with other animal models.
• Expertise in cellular biology and microscopy imaging.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust. Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• Advanced skills in light microscopy are strongly desired.
• Knowledge of organelle cell biology (lysosomes, autophagy, intracellular trafficking), and a commitment to conducting related high-quality research.
• Able to work independently and in a team setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal and time management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in staff training and mentoring.

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
