Johnson & Johnson, through DePuy Synthes in Boston, seeks a Staff Electrical Engineer, Robotics, to advance the Spine Robotics hardware platform and new product development. You will lead electrical design, verification, and cross-functional problem solving in a fast-paced robotics environment.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years in regulated medical devices, hands-on PCB/analog/digital design, and DFMA expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience.
• Regulated industry experience required; medical device experience preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office 365 tools (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle a varied workload.
• Demonstrated strong leadership, technical skill and collaboration qualities.
• Experience with analog and digital circuitry design and development.
• Detailed understanding of board-level PCB design and signal integrity issues.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience DFMA and FMEA.
• Experience designing PCBAs (Schematics, Analysis, Layout, Manufacturing).

Responsabilités

• Lead electrical design, integration, and verification of complex electromechanical subsystems for robotic medical devices.
• Drive cross-functional technical problem solving with mechanical, systems, software/firmware, and manufacturing teams.
• Lead IEC 60601 compliance activities—EMC, electrical safety, risk management, and essential performance.
• Lead root cause investigations on electrical and software issues during prototype and production.
• Collaborate with manufacturers to implement testing of capital equipment.
• Provide leadership for new product development teams across discovery, concept and feasibility research.
• Approve design specs, drawings, and protocols as defined in the signature matrix.
• Coordinate with regulatory and clinical affairs to ensure design inputs meet compliance.
• Support DV/VV builds, analyze test results, and drive corrective actions for reliability and safety.
• Champion continuous improvement in hardware architecture and test methodologies.
• Interface with manufacturing partners for supplier development, PFMEAs, and product builds.
• Apply DFMA, Lean Six Sigma, and risk analysis to optimize manufacturability.
