Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Staff Research Associate 2 in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology for a 2-year project. This role supports lab members with stem cell culture, genome engineering, and experimental planning under the PI.

Responsibilities cover stem cell culture, molecular biology support, project tracking, data analysis, safety compliance, and general lab operations. This is an on-site, exempt, full-time position eligible for UC benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with sterile tissue culture techniques, PCR, and basic lab maintenance duties.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques, plasmid handling and molecular cloning.
• Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culturing, genome engineering with CRISPR, and NGS library prep/data analysis.
• Knowledge of lab safety procedures, ability to design and conduct experiments and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Stem Cell Culture and Genome Engineering – maintaining pluripotent stem cell cultures and supporting genome engineering workflows.
• Molecular Biology and Tissue Culture Support – assisting with DNA isolation, PCR, sequencing prep, and data recording.
• Research Project Support – planning and conducting experiments, interpreting data, troubleshooting.
• Safety and Protocol Compliance – assisting with protocol renewals and safety inspections.
• Lab Support Operations – ordering supplies and managing lab resources.
