Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor in Austin, Texas is seeking a staff-level reliability engineer to lead reliability efforts for NTI/NPI and mass production across CMOS nodes. You will guide cross-functional teams, collaborate with Korea HQ, customers, and Fab to ensure robust device implementation.

You will conduct DOE, apply reliability models, and analyze failure data to improve margins. Expected to publish findings, participate in external conferences, and contribute to technology development in

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Engineering or Physics required; 10+ years in semiconductor process, product or device engineering preferred.
  • Experience leading reliability programs across NTI/NPI to mass production is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics and reliability degradation mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to direct a team for reliability improvement activities.
  • Identify, plan, and execute reliability evaluations for NTI/NPI, technology qualification, process changes and abnormal events.

Position Summary

Staff-level reliability engineer will care semiconductor reliability of at Samsung Foundry’s new technology introduction (NTI)/new product introduction (NPI). The individual will collaborate with internal teams, Korea HQ teams, external customer(s), and Fab. seamlessly from NTI/NPI to mass production. This reliability engineer will drive all phases of reliability engineering for advanced CMOS technology nodes with manager’s help.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Provide technical leadership to direct a team for reliability improvement activities.

Identify, plan, and execute reliability evaluations for NTI/NPI, technology qualification, process changes and abnormal events.

Identify concerning items for product reliability and drive improvement actions with both local and overseas operations.

Manage solutions to integration problems working across several departments (Fab, PIE, Device, Product Test, etc) to improve reliability.

Design, execute, and analyze designed experiments to improve semiconductor fabrication processes.

Utilize lessons learned to improve reliability margin; define new process integration for new technology nodes.

Utilize statistical tools and reliability models to extract lifetime from time to fail data.

Represent Samsung technology leadership by authoring papers for symposiums & journals and leadership roles at external conferences.

Navigate both the industrial and academic landscape in order to be a knowledge center of device integration and technology development for reliability.

Plus for strong understanding of Semiconductor Device Physics or Reliability Degradation Mechanisms.

Example of Reliability Degradation Mechanisms: TDDB, HCI, BTI, EM, SM, TC.

Skills and Qualifications

MS, PhD in Engineering or Physics (preferred Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering) Requires 10+ years of related experience in Semiconductor process, product or device engineering.

Total Rewards

The current base salary range for this role is between $131,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.

At Samsung Austin Semiconductor, base pay is just one part of our total compensation package. The base compensation for this role will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
