The 6 South Med/Surg/Oncology unit is a 34-bed inpatient unit caring for patients with pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, pancreatitis, acute renal failure, post-op, and oncology patients. The unit offers opportunities for certification in chemotherapy after 2 years and includes beds designated for inpatient hospice care. This role provides a solid foundation in nursing, opportunities for certification, and skill development in a diverse setting.

We support professional development for:

• Newly Licensed RNs: Orientation, Nurse Residency, continued education
• Experienced RNs: Skill enhancement and professional growth

Responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes
• Recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
• Implementing safety strategies and patient education
• Coordinating discharge planning and applying evidence-based practices
• Participating in quality improvement and team collaboration
• Leading patient-centered care and delegating appropriately

Licensure and certification requirements:

• RN license issued by the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA

Educational and experience requirements:

• Completion of an accredited nursing program
• Open to newly licensed and experienced nurses

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Holistic patient care, critical thinking, proficiency with electronic records
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and make independent decisions

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, perform transfers, and work in potentially hazardous environments with protective gear.
