Job Summary:

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing responses to health problems and providing emergent, supportive, and restorative care using the nursing process. The nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients systematically based on age and developmental level, considering physical, psycho-social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and discharge needs.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
• Operate and utilize patient care equipment and procedures accurately.
• Evaluate and adjust the plan of care as necessary.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
• Recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and intervene appropriately.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Current RN license in Connecticut.
• CPR certification from AHA or equivalent within 3 months of hire.
• NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or completion within 3 months of hire.
