Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a GI Lab nursing position in West Allis, Wisconsin.
Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication, leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
Uses the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan. Includes the patient and family in planning and implementing care and develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
Anticipates and recognizes significant changes in the patient’s condition, status, and care needs. Provides ongoing assessment and takes appropriate actions when changes occur. Adjusts the care plan as needed, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate patient-centered care.
Implements strategies to reduce patient risk and increase safety. Assesses patient and family readiness to learn and adapts approaches accordingly. Works collaboratively to develop strategies to meet learning needs.
Coordinates discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach. Applies evidence-based practices to deliver patient care. Incorporates nursing and regulatory standards into practice.
Evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes and takes action when necessary. Supports shared governance and quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Promotes collaboration among healthcare team members. Assumes leadership and delegates appropriately.
Promotes a culture of safety by identifying threats and intervening to prevent harm. Reports safety events and near misses promptly. Seeks to identify potential safety issues and helps implement corrective actions.
Applies ethical decision-making, shows respect for peers and other disciplines. Participates as an effective team member to develop individualized care approaches.
Participates in quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance department functions and patient experience.
Engages in professional development activities, including attending meetings, completing competencies, and seeking mentorship opportunities.
Per Diem, On-call required. Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital.
Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Typically 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
Ability to provide holistic patient care, recognize changes requiring intervention, and respond confidently. Proficient in electronic health records, communication, and interpersonal skills. Capable of critical decision-making, organization, prioritization, and teamwork. Maintains annual certifications as required.
