Job summary

Second Nature is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Quality Engineering to own automated tests across all pods, drive AI-first testing, and elevate the organization’s testing capability.

You’ll write code and test strategies, influence multiple teams, and build scalable automation frameworks using Claude, Jest, and Playwright. This remote-first role emphasizes strong communication and ownership.

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing, coding, and owning test automation and frameworks across multiple testing layers (unit, integration, contract, browser/e2e).
• AI-first by default; leverage Claude to accelerate testing and build MCP tooling.
• Strong collaboration with engineers, PMs, and leaders to embed quality up front.

Responsibilities

• Own automated-testing strategy and frameworks across the UI product and critical flows.
• Build risk-weighted test coverage and live dashboards showing real production traffic.
• Lead AI-driven testing workflows and tooling integration across services and partner APIs.
• Modernize integration testing from manual checks to API-based automation.
• Coach teams to embed quality and reduce gatekeeping; drive end-to-end ownership.
• Drive the Quality Enablement practice with directors and platform teams.
• Establish CI coverage gates and monitor change-failure rates to reduce escaped defects.
