Staff QA Software Engineer

At VERSES, we're shaping the future of computing with our natural computing platform, Genius. We're looking for a Staff QA Software Engineer to join our Innovation team where we rapidly prototype Spatial Web technologies and AI applications.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Staff QA Software Engineer you will:

1. Drive test automation with clear metrics showing product health.
2. Build test automation into CICD pipelines.
3. Create multiple types of automated tests including: Unit, Integration, Regression, Performance and Load, and End to End.
4. Jump in and learn the technical details of our product to ensure proper test code coverage and be able to deliver the metrics to stakeholders.
5. Proactively develop strategies and tests to “break” the system and ensure high quality.
6. Oversee risk management including defining critical quality attributes, assessing residual risks, and presenting risk/benefit justifications to leadership.
7. Mentor and help grow other team members.
8. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality is incorporated in our solutions as customers onboard to the Genius Platform, ensuring a seamless integration and adoption process.
9. Create and maintain software engineering test plans with minimal guidance based on requirements still evolving and to verify the quality and stability of our software engineering code and products.
10. Maintain software engineering applications and ensure proper QA documentation and prepare all required documentation pertinent to software engineering that is relevant for other teams.
11. Help set up and suggest any software-related tools and processes to help ensure bug-free software engineering releases.

Essential Qualifications

1. At least 10 years of experience in Saas or similar industry, with a focus on developing solutions for, and supporting, enterprise-scale applications.
2. Fluent in modern testing frameworks such as Cucumber, Playwright, and Selenium.
3. Experience developing comprehensive test plans from OpenAPI specifications.
4. Experience creating multiple types of automated tests, including: Unit, Integration, Regression, Performance and Load, and End to End experience with SDK testing.
5. Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
6. Understanding of web technologies and standards, such as REST/CRUD, HTTP, DNS and web security.
7. Comfortable working with the popular programming languages used at Verses, such as Python, Typescript, and Rust.

Additional Qualifications

1. Experience with pub sub technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, and Redis.
2. Experience working with IoT and edge computing technologies.
3. Experience with agile software development methodologies.
4. Strong probabilistic statistical experience is a plus.

Education & Technical Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related practical experience.
2. Understanding of core machine learning and AI concepts, including generative models (like GPTs), and an awareness of emerging paradigms such as active inference.
3. Experience running effective QA in B2B enterprises with operations/customer support/technical support.
