Job summary

Medallia is seeking a Staff QA Engineer to partner with our DXA engineering team to ensure data accuracy as it flows through the analytics pipeline. You will design and implement automated checks, work across multiple teams, and own the quality program in a hybrid Tysons environment.

The role emphasizes integration QA, SQL data validation, Python tooling, and Java automation within CI/CD pipelines, with strong collaboration across backend teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend, integration, and data QA or SDET roles.
• SQL data validation: write queries to inspect missing/incorrect data and automate checks.
• Python tooling to parse JSON, logs, compare data outputs, and report failures.
• API testing of RESTful services with delayed or asynchronous data delivery.
• Java automation with JUnit and CI/CD, managing test executions in Jenkins.
• AWS cloud services usage and cloud log review for debugging test failures.
• Release engineering: define criteria and pass/fail gates for deployments.

Responsibilities

• Quality Program Ownership: Define, own, and execute quality strategy, test frameworks, and deployment gates across multi-team environments without daily task management.
• Test Automation & CI Integration: Build and maintain repeatable integration test suites in Java/JUnit and embed into Jenkins pipelines.
• Data Verification Tooling: Write scripts and SQL queries to compare datasets and detect missing or malformed pipeline data.
• API & Asynchronous Testing: Implement REST API test coverage for delayed data states.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with backend teams to build permanent automated checks and prioritize defects.
