Job description

The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Wellness Centers providecounseling, case management and other social services to supportstudents in maintaining their personal well-being and achievingtheir academic goals.

Located at each of the seven colleges, Wellness Centers providebest-practices mental health and psycho-social services tostudents, faculty, and staff including: crisis intervention, casemanagement with linkage to community-based resources and public aidprograms; individual counseling, support groups, evaluation forlearning disabilities, wellness education and outreach; andconsultation and training for faculty and staff.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to The Lead Psychologist & Training Director andunder general supervision, the Staff Psychologist-Wellness Center (PT Exempt) provides arange of psychological assessment and outreach services tostudents, faculty and staff. Participates in the areas of clinicalservices, graduate-level training program, wellness initiatives anddaily operations. Has primary clinical supervision of assignedgraduate level trainees and collaboratively participates in thegroup training of all graduate-level trainees participating in theClinical Training Program. Contributes to the best-practicesoperations of the Wellness Center and participates in promoting a holistic plan of health and wellness initiatives for CCC students.Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• May be assigned by the Lead Psychologist & TrainingDirector to provide as-needed day-to-day direction of clinicalactivities and monitoring of all trainee services provided. May beassigned to address administrative-level time-sensitive concerns,inter-department meetings, or requested consultations.
• Contributes to the development and implementation ofevidence-based and best practices initiatives and services.
• Assists in identifying and developing additional clinicalcompetency training materials for graduate-level trainees.
• Contributes to the ongoing development of the training program,including the recruitment, interviewing and monitoring of thegraduate-level trainees.
• Provides doctoral-level clinical supervision to graduate-leveltrainees.
• Supervises doctoral-level trainees in psychological assessmentsand report writing.
• Conducts psychological assessments.
• Participates in triage of walk-in clients or crisis counselingor services. Meets with walk-in clients to assess their immediateor emergency needs, and provides crisis counseling and interventionservices as needed or delegates appropriately to clinical staff orgraduate level trainees.
• Provides referrals to appropriate health and social serviceagencies for additional services as required.
• Conducts best practices crisis assessment and intervention andarranges emergency psychiatric assessment, as needed.
• Serves as consultant to college staff and faculty for studentdevelopment issues, behavioral threat assessment, classroombehavioral management, and the overall behavioral health of thecollege community.
• Develops and implements educational and prevention outreachprogramming, especially for undeserved or special populations,which demonstrates cultural responsiveness.
• Conducts workshops and professional development for students,faculty and staff on critical topics such as Mental Health 101,stress and time management, violence prevention/verbalde-escalation, healthy relationships, and veterans issues.
• Maintains case records and data on services provided by theWellness Center and creates reports evaluating the effectiveness ofservices using Titanium medical records system and CounselingCenter Assessment Psychological Symptoms (CCAPS).
• Creates and maintenance a professional, welcoming environment forindividuals visiting the Wellness Center for services andinformation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, or closely relatedfield.
• Active licensure by the State of Illinois as a ClinicalPsychologist within six (6) months of hire is required.
• At least two (2) years of experience providing psychologicalassessment services.
• At least two (2) years of experience providing clinicalsupervision to doctoral-level trainees. (This may include thosetrainees at the internship or post-doctoral level.)
• Preference will be given to candidates who have experience inworking with a multi-cultural population and demonstrate acommitment to providing culturally competent services to ourdiverse student population.
• Knowledge and experience in administration of psychologicalassessment tools including cognitive, achievement, and personalitymeasures.
• Knowledge of clinical supervision theories and/or styles.
• Knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy and counselingtheories and practices.
• Knowledge of case management and coordinated caretechniques.
• Knowledge of treatment principles, modalities andtechniques.
• Knowledge of community resources and social serviceagencies.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communicationskills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Skill in applying solid clinical judgment to cases.
• Ability to shift between clinical and non-clinical duties tomeet organizational needs.
• Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse studentbody, faculty and staff.

$33.77/hour - $41.83/hour
