Job summary

The University of Iowa invites applications for a Sr Behavioral Health Clinician within University Counseling Service. You will provide comprehensive psychological services to a diverse student population, including assessment, counseling, crisis response, and consultation.

You will supervise graduate students, mentor trainees, and contribute to outreach and program development while upholding APA ethics and campus partnerships.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program.
• Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire date.
• Knowledge of evidence-based mental health counseling for university students.
• Ability to assess, manage, and ensure high-quality mental health counseling and crisis management.
• Proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services on a university campus.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical counseling—individual, couples, and group therapy and consult with professionals as needed.
• Conduct DSM-5-based diagnostic evaluations and develop treatment plans.
• Deliver crisis intervention with stabilization, safety planning, and follow-up.
• Manage case coordination with referrals and collaboration with campus/community providers.
• Maintain clinical documentation in electronic health records per standards.
