Staff Program Manager

The Staff Program Manager leads large, strategic programs spanning multiple teams, domains, and business initiatives. This role translates strategy into scalable delivery plans, navigates ambiguity, and delivers measurable business outcomes. Staff Program Managers are recognized leaders who bring clarity to complex situations, elevate execution maturity, influence cross‑functional decisions, and scale effective practices across teams and programs. They combine business acumen, technical fluency, and sound judgment to improve organizational effectiveness and accelerate value delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of large, complex programs with significant cross‑functional and organizational impact.

• Define program vision, success metrics, and long‑range delivery plans aligned to strategic objectives.

• Navigate ambiguity by anticipating risks, resolving systemic issues, and aligning teams and stakeholders.

• Use technical fluency to assess architectural risks, validate timelines, identify acceleration opportunities, and guide delivery tradeoffs.

• Synthesize business, delivery, and KPI data to guide priorities, resource decisions, tradeoffs, and program pivots.

• Improve delivery by simplifying processes, reducing complexity, and scaling proven models across teams and domains.

• Advise senior leaders with clear, data‑backed communication on risks, decisions, and recommendations.

• Mentor PMs across levels while strengthening organizational delivery capability and execution discipline.

• Operates independently across multiple teams, domains, or strategic initiatives.

• Influences senior leaders and cross‑functional decision‑making across organizational boundaries.

Required Qualifications

• Experience leading large, high‑impact programs across multiple teams, domains, or business functions.

• Proven ability to define a program vision and success measures that connect business strategy and scalable delivery.

• Track record of leading through high ambiguity, addressing risks, resolving complex issues, and maintaining stakeholder alignment.

• Technical fluency to partner with engineering leaders, assess architectural risks, validate delivery plans, and accelerate execution without directing solutions.

• Ability to synthesize business outcomes and KPI data to guide prioritization, tradeoffs, and investment decisions.

• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and cross‑functional leaders to align decisions.

• Success scaling delivery processes, frameworks, tools, or operating mechanisms across teams or domains to improve predictability and execution.

• Experience mentoring program managers and contributing to delivery standards and best practices.

• Proven ability to lead across cultures and regions, navigate varied working and communication styles, and align globally distributed teams.

Preferred Experience

• Leading transformations that introduce new operating models, governance, or enterprise capabilities.

• Influencing portfolio strategy, investment decisions, and cross‑domain prioritization through data‑driven insights.

• Coaching program managers on delivery excellence, systems thinking, and stakeholder management.

• Establishing repeatable frameworks, playbooks, or organizational mechanisms that improve execution quality and business outcomes at scale.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job‑related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role is eligible for SIE’s top‑tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and coveted employee discounts for Sony products. This role also may be eligible for a bonus package.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$173,000—$259,400 USD
