Job summary

Coursera seeks a product leader to set the strategic vision for Coursera's search experience across its product suite. You will work with engineering, design, data science, ML, and university partnerships to shape a roadmap, delivering a highly personalized, multilingual learner journey powered by AI.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in product management for consumer-facing products with revenue responsibility.
  • 2+ years in PM focusing on search, personalization, or recommendations.
  • Proven track record delivering complex initiatives from ideation to launch.
  • Experience using quantitative (A/B tests, multivariate experiments) and qualitative methods.
  • Ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • 4+ years in a product team at a large ecommerce company (preferred).
  • 0-to-1 experience taking products from idea to launch, with post-launch results (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or relevant field (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision for next-generation capabilities to help users discover learning content with a hyper-relevant, personalized search experience.
  • Own conversational search across Coursera, collaborating with product teams for a seamless AI learner journey.
  • Improve search accuracy with IR/ML, embeddings, and LLMs for multilingual search, ranking, and personalization.
  • Apply rapid experimentation to understand market trends, user behavior, and opportunities.
  • Leverage market trends and competitor analysis to identify revenue growth opportunities and personalization approaches.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure conversion and merchandising effectiveness and drive data-based improvements.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and other Product teams to align conversion strategies with business goals.

About this role:

In this pivotal role, you will set the strategic vision for Coursera's search experience across our diverse product suite by working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure a seamless, personalized and ML/AI driven learner experience. The best candidates are extremely hands‑on, obsessed with the learner journey, and opinionated about how AI can make finding the right course, credential, or skill path effortless for a global, multilingual audience.

You will collaborate with engineering, design, research, data science, ML, and university partnership teams to contribute to the development of your product roadmap. You will be in close collaboration with marketing, partnership managers, and growth product teams to ensure the successful growth of the product.

About your skills:

You've built consumer products at scale - ideally high‑intent search or marketplace experiences and deeply understand what makes discovery intuitive, trustworthy, and indispensable. You've shipped experiences people love and return to. You bring an "owner" mindset: biased toward action, a great collaborator, a master simplifier, and someone who pushes towards clarity and delivery. You are user‑first, understand and speak in terms of user value propositions, and creatively inspire users to try the product. You hold a high bar across the board - from your own contributions to the people you work with, to the products you work on.

What you'll be doing:
  • Set the vision for next‑generation capabilities that help users discover the right learning content by creating a compelling, hyper‑relevant and personalized search experience
  • Own conversational search across Coursera, working with other product teams to ensure a seamless and integrated AI experience for learners throughout the learner journey
  • Improve the accuracy of search results through innovative tactics, leveraging advances in IR/ML, embeddings, and LLMs to improve query understanding, semantic and multilingual search, personalized ranking, and much more
  • Employ rapid experimentation techniques to understand evolving market trends, user behaviors, and potential opportunities
  • Utilize market trends and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for revenue growth and innovative ways to personalize the learner experience
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of conversion and merchandising efforts to make data‑driven recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Marketing and other Product teams to align conversion strategies with overall business objectives and revenue targets
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of product management experience with direct responsibility over the success of a consumer‑facing product and driving revenue
  • 2+ years of PM experience working on search, personalization, or recommendation features
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex and impactful product initiatives from ideation to launch
  • Experience using a combination of quantitative (A/B testing and multivariate experimentation) as well as qualitative research methods to prioritize and validate ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and inspire cross‑functional teams through communication and collaboration
  • Direct experience in scaling platform‑level capabilities that serve multiple use cases 4+ years in a product team at a large ecommerce company (preferred)
  • 0-to-1 experience taking products from idea to launch, with proven results post‑launch (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or relevant field (preferred)
