About the company
An AI-first enterprise software team building agents that turn contracts from files sitting in storage into structured logic that enterprise systems can act on.
The team started as an accelerator-backed startup and now runs as a standalone unit inside a profitable, late-stage contract management company, with its own engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.
That setup pairs startup speed with distribution into some of the largest companies in the world, plus a body of millions of contracts to build on. The founders are hands‑on, the team is small, and people ship and iterate instead of planning for months.
The role You'll be the first product manager, taking over product ownership from a founder who has run it until now.
You'll own the strategy and roadmap for the company's agentic contracting platform, make the calls on what gets built and what waits, and push back on the founders' assumptions when the evidence points elsewhere.
Much of your input will come from forward‑deployed legal engineers (lawyers who work side by side with customers), and you'll turn what they hear into product direction. Early on you'll also set up how product works here: prioritization, specs, launches, and how success gets measured. What you’ll do
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for an agentic AI platform used in enterprise contracting, with clear calls on priority and sequencing
- Gather feedback from the legal engineers embedded with enterprise customers and turn it into a roadmap engineers can build against
- Scope and plan work with engineering, adjusting sprint cadence for AI‑assisted development where features can land in days
- Work through agent architecture tradeoffs with engineers (evals, latency, model behavior, context) and test ideas with quick prototypes in tools like Claude Code or Cursor
- Build the product function from zero, including how the team prioritizes, documents, launches, and measures results
- Take over day‑to‑day product decisions from the founder and act as a real thought partner on direction
What you must bring
- 5+ years of product management experience on AI‑focused engineering teams, including owning a roadmap
- A track record of shipping AI or LLM‑based products into production in an AI‑centric engineering environment
- Hands‑on experience managing agentic systems or modern AI frameworks, including evals, latency, model behavior, and context management
- PM experience (PM, Senior PM, Staff PM, or founding PM) at a B2B SaaS or AI‑native company
- Time at an early‑stage startup (Seed to Series B), as a founder, or as a company's first PM
- Experience prototyping with AI developer tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
- A close working history with engineers and a realistic sense of how long things take to build
- Comfort taking a product from 0‑to‑1 with a lot of autonomy
- Ability to work on‑site in the New York City area five days a week
Nice to have
- Experience on an AI, personalization, or recommendation team at a large consumer tech company
- Comfort pulling and analyzing data yourself with SQL or coding agents (funnels, cohorts)
- A software engineering background, or experience leading engineering teams
- Exposure to legal tech, contract workflows, or document intelligence products
Compensation & logistics
- $180K to $250K base salary (no equity component)
- On‑site five days a week in New York, NY
- No relocation support. You should already live in the New York City area or be moving there on your own
- Must be authorized to work in the US without current or future visa sponsorship (this includes candidates on OPT or STEM OPT who would later need H‑1B sponsorship). Not open to visa transfers.
This isn't the right fit if
- Most of your career has been at large legacy tech incumbents
- Your product experience is limited to internal tools, HR workflows, or APIs and integrations
- You've only been a PM at large companies, with no early‑stage, founder, or first‑PM experience
- You want an established product org with processes already in place
