Job summary

Customer.io is seeking a Staff Product Engineer who ships like an engineer and thinks like a product owner. You will own end-to-end initiatives from framing to live, partner with product, design, and data, and guide architectural decisions across the stack with a focus on customer impact.

You’ll mentor teams, drive cross-team alignment, apply metrics and AI to improve outcomes, and participate in on-call rotations. This is a high-ownership role at scale.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience with end-to-end scope across the stack.
• Ability to define product direction and measure success with data.
• Experience guiding cross-functional teams through ambiguity and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own important, ambiguous problems from framing through launch and iteration.
• Partner with product, design, and data to shape priorities and success metrics.
• Lead technical decisions across the stack including architecture and performance.
• Coordinate work across teams to keep complex initiatives moving.
• Mentor engineers and promote reusable patterns and best practices.
• Apply AI thoughtfully to improve tooling and outcomes, with proper governance.
