Job summary

Headway is seeking a senior Design Systems designer to partner with our design systems lead. You will elevate Helix, shaping tokens, components, and documentation for AI-first workflows. You’ll work with React and Tailwind, and ship practical, production-ready specs for engineers.

You’ll help ensure accessibility and collaborate with product teams to migrate components. This role emphasizes craft, systems thinking, and scalable patterns across our design platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing digital products, including at least two on a design system used by multiple teams.
• Lead on visual craft with a strong sense of typography, spacing, color, states, and density.
• Able to unblock others and distinguish between one-off requests and systemic gaps.
• Make systems legible through clear documentation and well-chosen patterns.

Responsibilities

• Component design: design flexible, scalable components with typography, spacing, color, states, and density.
• Tokens and theming: shape semantic token architecture and theming across surfaces.
• Documentation: write docs usable by designers, engineers, and coding agents.
• Partnership with product teams: collaborate with designers and engineers; plan migrations for component changes.
• Accessibility: champion accessibility and uphold Helix standards.
