Job summary

Epia Neuro is a neural technology company developing intent-driven systems for restoring function in neurological conditions. We seek a Principal or Staff Electrical Systems Engineer to architect implantable and wearable medical devices in a role that spans hardware, firmware, and system integration.

You will translate early-stage concepts into production-ready Class III medical devices, guiding system-level design decisions and ensuring regulatory standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in embedded hardware design and PCB development.
  • Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++, Python).

Responsibilities

  • Define and architect end-to-end electrical systems for implantable and external medical devices.
  • Translate product requirements into system specifications, including power, signal integrity, communication, and safety constraints.
  • Drive design trade-offs across performance, power consumption, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Design and develop PCBs, including schematic capture, layout guidance, and component selection.
  • Lead development of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, including MCU-based systems and communication interfaces.
  • Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ to enable hardware functionality and system integration.
  • Define and execute system-level verification and validation strategies.
  • Debug hardware/firmware interactions across subsystems and collaborate with test engineering for automated validation platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition prototypes into production-ready medical devices and ensure regulatory compliance.
