Job summary

StubHub is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Core Platform - Streaming & Storage. You will own the technical direction for streaming and NoSQL/storage, migrating from Azure to a modern, AWS-native Kafka-compatible platform, and driving high-throughput event processing across ~100 service teams.

You will mentor 3–5 engineers, shape multi-year roadmaps, and ensure governance and security controls are integrated into the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical lead for large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in event streaming and messaging — Kafka or Kafka-compatible brokers.
• Experience operating production infrastructure at scale (availability, incident response, performance, cost).
• Experience with cloud data storage and NoSQL systems (object storage, key-value stores, caches).

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for StubHub's streaming platform and storage offerings.
• Lead migration of streaming from Azure to AWS-native, Kafka-compatible platform, including broker deployment and SDKs.
• Design and operate high-throughput infrastructure processing billions of events per day with reliability and performance.
• Drive architecture reviews, observability, and incident response for P0 systems.
• Mentor a team of 3–5 engineers and guide multi-team migrations or programs.
