Job summary

DataRobot is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead infrastructure for the Fleet platform, spanning multi-cloud and on-prem deployments. You will architect Kubernetes-based solutions, mentor engineers, and shape platform automation and deployment patterns across teams.

You’ll drive modern practices including GitOps, policy-as-code, and scalable observability while collaborating with SRE, Platform, and Applications teams to deliver resilient, high-velocity infrastructure at scale.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years engineering experience with 5+ in infrastructure, platform, or backend roles.
• Deep Kubernetes internals knowledge: networking, scheduling, scaling, controllers.
• Proven ability to design systems from scratch with pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Strong Python or Go skills; production-grade, observable systems.
• Growth mindset; ability to teach, learn, and improve teams.
• Experience across AWS, GCP, Azure or hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with Helm, Terraform, Pulumi, and GitOps workflows.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable Kubernetes-based infra for multi-cloud and hybrid setups.
• Direct core Fleet initiatives: control plane services, tenancy, pipelines, observability.
• Mentor engineers and foster ownership, curiosity, and excellence.
• Drive modernization with GitOps, Kyverno-like patterns, autoscaling, efficiency.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and App teams to align infra with product needs.
• Advise on CI/CD, reliability, container lifecycle, and developer experience.
• Partner with engineering leadership to scale Fleet's impact.
