Job summary

Field AI is seeking a Data Platform Engineer, Infrastructure to design, build, and operate the cloud foundation powering our data platform for robotics applications. You will work with Kubernetes, CI/CD, and IaC to keep systems reliable, secure, and cost-efficient as our fleet grows.

Based in Irvine, CA, this role is fully onsite with flexible hours. You will collaborate with pipeline, analytics, edge, and robotics teams to ship robust data services and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE roles, supporting data-intensive systems.
• Strong experience with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or similar for automation and tooling.
• Experience operating production systems: monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning.
• Working knowledge of data infrastructure components (warehouses, object storage, streaming systems, orchestrators).
• Experience with security fundamentals: IAM, network security, secrets management.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure for the data platform: compute, storage, and networking.
• Manage infrastructure as code: Terraform/IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD for infra and data services.
• Provision and tune infra for heavy workloads: large-scale sensor data processing and ML training/evaluation.
• Own platform reliability: SLAs/SLOs, on-call, incident response, and capacity planning.
• Implement security and governance: IAM, secrets management, encryption, audit logging, environment isolation.
• Own cloud cost management: monitoring, budgeting, optimization across storage and compute.
• Build observability stack (metrics, logging, tracing) for data platform services.
• Build internal tooling so pipeline/analytics engineers can ship without infra expertise.
