Job summary

Pivotal Health is hiring for a high-ownership platform role focused on identity, tenancy, and developer experience. You will own architectural decisions, write production code, and drive scalable systems while mentoring engineers across multiple teams.

We expect 8+ years of software engineering, strong backend depth in Python, and experience with cloud-native architectures. Remote or hybrid flexibility is available, with core hubs in major US regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with backend depth across domains.
• Track record of owning architectural decisions on complex production systems.
• Proficiency in Python or strong backend depth.
• Experience designing and operating cloud-native systems; GCP preferred.
• Experience with relational data modeling and schema evolution.
• Ability to engage in customer and problem discovery.
• Strong communication and self-directed work style.
• Leadership through mentorship and hands-on delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the platform across identity, tenancy, and developer experience.
• Stay hands-on with production code and end-to-end ownership of systems.
• Design for extension and reuse with well-defined interfaces.
• Ensure scalable, reliable, secure system interactions.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into executable plans with trade-offs.
• Raise engineering quality through patterns, reviews, and collaboration.
• Mentor engineers and contribute as a technical leader.
